Hello Metrospeakers!

I hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend!

In the next club meeting on August 9th, we will be hosting a bi-election for
the Vice President of Public Relations role (VP PR). Our current officer
Monica Wu has to step down due to personal engagements. I would like to
thank Monica for all the contributions she has made to our club as the VP
PR!

It is a great opportunity to gain organizational and project management
skills! The principal responsibility of the VP PR is coordinating publicity
programs, such as the club newsletter. The VP PR is also the leader of club
social events.

Cindy Yip, our VP PR for the previous year has organized several very
successful club social events, namely the Christmas Party, Salsa Party, and
the Club Open House. She also authored our club newsletters. These are some
of the activities that the new VP PR will be spearheading, and there are
other exciting opportunities that we are exploring this year, such as
organizing speaking events outside of the club.

The election procedure is same as before: We will start off with a round of
nominations, and then the running candidates will have to make a short
speech, and finally followed by a round of voting.

I encourage you to consider running for this position. I see tremendous
amount of learning associated with this role, and you will have a great
impact on how our club functions. Metrospeakers Toastmaster Club has a proud
history of fostering strong leaders, so I have no doubt that the new VP PR
will help us to reach another level of club success.
