[MetroMembers] Bud Singbeil Award

Hello fellow Metro Speakers,

 

As VP Education I would like to award the Bud Singbeil trophy on January 3
since I expect a number of members will be away for Christmas.

 

For the benefit of our relatively new members, this award is named after Bud
Singbeil, a vibrant toastmaster who was a traveling salesman.  Bud was a big
husky fellow who sold beauty products for spas and hair salons-proof that
you can't judge a book by its cover.  Bud traveled a lot and made it a point
to check out many Toastmaster clubs while on the road.  Marc Hurtubise and
Sheree Gable met him at a conference back at 2003 and he included Metro
Speakers in his visit shortly afterwards where he blew those in attendance
away with a great table topic and a heartfelt speech during closing
comments.  Sadly some years ago Bud suddenly passed away.  We award the Bud
Singbeil plaque in his honour twice a year:  once around Christmas and once
again at the end of June/beginning of July.  The award stands for excellence
and dedication in our Toastmaster club.

 

Please take a few moments to think about a member who has made a huge
contribution to Metro Speakers this term.  The person does not have to be an
executive in order to be considered.

nominees by December 28.
