Hello fellow Metrospeakers,
Whether you are aiming for a job with the Canadian government, or want to
visit Paris and be able to communicate with the locals, or simply would like
to experience another culture, you might
have this great desire to learn French really well. Unfortunately, there
isn't a prominent francophone community here in Vancouver, so there might
not be a lot of opportunities for you to practice verbal French.
Not any more. I want to tell you about a new exciting French speaking
Toastmaster club, Le French Toast, that holds meetings every Thursday noon
at 201-300 West Georgia street. Louisa Davis, who is a club coach for Le
French Toast, kindly invited me to do a speech there last week.
Throughout the entire meeting, I was very impressed by the professionalism
exhibited by the members at Le French Toast, as well as the fun atmosphere
that they have created. I delivered a speech in French about my exchange
experience in France, and the importance of Toastmasters. At the end of my
speech, I received a great evaluation, and tons of encouragements from the
members.
It can be daunting at first, to speak a second or third language in front of
public. But just like getting up in front of an audience for the very first
time, constant practice leads to steady improvement, regardless of the
language that you use. If you want to speak French fluently, but don't know
where you can practise, I highly recommend visiting Le French Toast.
Please contact Louisa Davis at "louisa at primestrategies.ca" to find out more
details!
Bon Courage!
