Hello Metro Speakers,

 

I know all of you who missed this evening's contest wished you could have
been there!  All contestants did a great job!  In my mind, you are all
winners because you simply took action, you signed up for the contest and
you did it!  Way to go!

 

The results of the Metrospeakers Club International Speech & Evaluation
Contest are as follows:

 

International Contest Speech Winner: Kevin Wang

2nd place Winner: Paul Choi

 

Evaluation Contest Winner: Wayne Ostrowercha

2nd place Winner: Yuliya Talmazan

3rd place Winner: Anthony Tam

 

Congratulations to Kevin and Wayne who move on to the Area 82 contest next
week, April 10th.  Area 82 contest will be sponsored by Metrospeakers, same
time (7-9pm), same location (room #460 - 4800 Kingsway).  Cost to attend is
FREE!  This is a great opportunity for Metrospeakers members to see and hear
the quality of speakers at an Area contest.  It just gets more and more
interesting with each level.  You won't regret attending!

 

Many club members went to celebrate afterwards at the Station Square pub
where we had a post - toast after the contest.  Good to see so many members
attend the pub after.  Expect the same for the after the Area contest.
Let's get a bigger group than this evening!

 

Finally, I like thank to all those involved.  All the contestants (Kate
Jang, Paul Choi, Kevin Wang, Jessica Chong, Wayne Ostrowercha, Yuliya
Talmazan, Anthony Tam), the judges (Alicia Li, Bryan Shen, Carrie Chen,
Dongsheng Ming, Lorraine Yan, Samantha Zhou), our timers (Emma Han and Dave
Poon), our ballot counter, Sheree Gable, and finally our Sergeant of Arms,
Robert Peng.  Thank you for a job well done.

 

A special thanks to our chairperson, Ricardo Moromisato!  Fantastic job,
Ricardo!  You made it a lot easier for me to prepare for the contest. It's
really appreciated.

 

And a very special thanks to our test speaker, Carlos Abergo, who delivered
a very entertaining speech about "Pets and People"!  Thank you!  Great job!

 

Finally I encourage everyone to come to the Area contest and cheer Kevin and
Wayne onto an Area win!  We know they can do it!
