Metro Speakers,

 

Just another reminder as outgoing VP Education I would like to award the Bud
Singbeil trophy on July 17.  

 

For the benefit of our relatively new members, this award is named after Bud
Singbeil, a vibrant toastmaster who was a traveling salesman.  Bud was a big
husky fellow who sold beauty products for spas and hair salons-proof that
you can't judge a book by its cover.  Bud traveled a lot and made it a point
to check out many Toastmaster clubs while on the road.  Marc Hurtubise and
Sheree Gable, the new Division J Governor, met him at a conference back at
2003 and he included Metro Speakers in his visit shortly afterwards where he
blew those in attendance away with a great table topic and a heartfelt
speech during closing comments.  Sadly some years ago Bud suddenly passed
away.  We award the Bud Singbeil plaque in his honour twice a year:  once
around Christmas and once again at the end of June/beginning of July.  The
award stands for excellence and dedication in our Toastmaster club.

 

Please take a few moments to think about a member who has made a huge
contribution to Metro Speakers this term, January through June 2008.  The
person does not have to be an executive in order to be considered.

 

For your information, previous winners of this award are Wayne Ostrowercha
(Dec 2007), Jason Qi (July 2007 and Ian Sullivan (Dec 2006).
