"Experience teaches nothing, but evaluated experience teaches everything".
As we are going to have a lot of own evaluating on own progress in the club, let share them in the meeting
Dear fellow Toastmasters,
I strongly believe in the statement introduced by Kevin. Let it be our next meeting's theme and share with each other in the meeting.
Sincerely,
Jessica

Dear fellow members,As the fiscal year of 2007 - 2008 has already concluded, I encourage you to take sometime to reflect on your progress in the past year. John C. Maxwell once said the following: "Experience teaches nothing, but evaluated experience teaches everything". I believe in this statement wholeheartedly, and you would benefit a lot from applying this statement to your toastmaster career. The idea of a performance review has long been instilled in the corporate world. If you work at a company, you would most likely have been through a performance evaluation process, and the goal is to to understand your areas of strength and development, so you can learn from the past and set new goals for yourself to ensure continuous growth in the near future. The same idea applies in Toastmasters. It is important to understand how you did as a toastmaster in the past year, in order to effectively plan for the current year. Here are a few questions you can ask yourself:- Did I set concrete goals for myself?- Have I achieved those goals? If not, what were the reasons?- What are my goals for the current year? Are they realistic based on my commitments?- If there were one thing that I need to work on, what would it be?- How can I help someone else in this club?In addition to answering these questions yourself, I also encourage you to work with your mentor to get his/her perspective on your progress in the past year.I hope that you found the past year with Metrospeakers to be an enjoyable and a fruitful one, and I hope that you find the next one to be even more fulfilling.Take care,Kevin WangImmediate Past PresidentMetrospeakers Toastmasters Club - 4371
