President

Carina first joined Toastmasters in late 2019 for a few months and returned in 2023, drawn to the organized and fun meetings at the Metro Speaker club. She values the experienced speakers and the high-quality feedback provided here.

A key milestone in Carina’s journey has been completing the Presentation Mastery Pathway Level 1, chairing speech competitions, and serving as VP of Education last term.

As the President, Carina is dedicated to leading the club with care and supporting members in succeeding at their roles and objectives. She is focused on maintaining the strong sense of community our club holds and continuing to make the club great “again, and again, and again!” 🙂

Leon Ling

Vice President of Education

Leon joined Toastmasters in April 2021, at the recommendation of his boss, and was introduced to the Metro Speakers club by his aunt. Since then, he has completed the Strategic Relationships Pathway, launched a podcast, and secured a better job. In 2023, Leon served as the club VP of Personal Relations.

As the VP of Education, Leon is committed to providing members with the information and workshops they need to succeed in their educational goals. He sees Toastmasters as a “playground” where he can try new things without the fear of failure. His personal goal is to become a confident and professional communicator.

Did you know: Leon has the most beautiful legs on Vancouver Island, and often people will ask him if they can take a photo of his legs (it’s that sexy!)
Hobbies: Karaoke, paddle board, volleyball, and badminton
Likes: People who are approachable and friendly
Dislikes: Hmmm, too many things… lol

Anthony Chen

Vice President of Membership

Anthony joined Toastmasters in April 2024, inspired by the remarkable speakers he encountered as a guest. Since then, he has delivered four speeches and assumed the role of Sergeant at Arms for the executive team last term.

Anthony is passionate about the Toastmasters community, viewing it as a safe space for people to hone their public speaking skills and connect with others. As VP of Education, his goals include recruiting 1-2 ambitious new members each month and helping to retain existing ones. He is committed to assisting members and guests promptly with sign-ups, renewals, and any other questions they may have.

Daewhan Lim

Vice President of Public Relations

Daewhan joined Toastmasters in April 2024 to improve his public speaking skills. A key milestone in his journey has been completing Level 1 of the Presentation Mastery Pathway.

Daewhan is passionate about the supportive environment that Toastmasters offers. As VP of Public Relations, he is committed to celebrating his fellow members’ achievements by sharing their milestones with the club. His goal is to bring in at least 3-5 guests to every meeting.

Did you know: Daewhan was recently featured on Global TV as a Marketing Product Specialist for BCLiquor
Hobbies: Collecting rare bottles of wine and bourbon
